AAA Oklahoma says gas prices to remain low for the holidays
The average gas price on Monday morning was $1.998 per gallon, the group said, or about 41 cents cheaper than one year ago.
Because of low prices this year Gas Buddy’s holiday travel survey estimates that American’s will spend about $1.6 billion less for year-end travel. Also, gas prices generally fall through early winter because people drive less this time of year.
In Tampa Bay, the average price for a gallon of regular gasoline was $1.94 on Monday, with some stations offering prices as low as $1.82 a gallon.
The states with the cheapest averages include: Missouri ($1.77), Oklahoma ($1.78), SC ($1.78), Tennessee ($1.79) and Kansas ($1.79). The new low for the year comes as holiday travelers are hitting the road.
Lundberg has said that the average cost of midgrade gas is $ 2.35 per gallon and premium gas averages at $ 2.55.
A local check found that gas prices were at $2.15 a gallon at a Marathon station in Beaver, while prices were set at $2.13 a gallon at a Sunoco in Vanport Township. According to AAA prices have not been this low since 2009.
Ohio- $1.81/g, down 10.2 cents per gallon from last week’s $1.91/g.

GasBuddy predicts the national average is likely to increase slightly during the busy holiday travel season.
