AAP defends Rajendra Kumar; cites his clean service record
The Delhi Chief Minister, who has accused the CBI of raiding his office to get hold of a file that “traps” Jaitley, claimed that the allegations against the Finance Minister are “very very serious”.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who has been into a running battle with the Centre and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley over a CBI raid on his officer, has alleged that the investigating agency has orders to target opposition parties.
Kejriwal – who took on Jaitley two days after accusing the CBI of searching his room while targeting his principal secretary Rajendra Kumar, a charge denied by the CBI – said huge amounts of money were involved in alleged wrongdoing in the DDCA. Other Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders demanded a privilege motion against Jaitley for “having lied on the floor of Parliament”.
Targeting Kejriwal for that vocabulary utilized by him on an official in his secretariat against Prime Minister Narendra Modi within the aftermath of CBI searches, he explained a situation or Lace by its ” conduct ” may also be a threat.
Mounting a sharp counter-attack on the AAP Government, Union HRD Minister Smiriti Irani described the charges as a “blasphemous and preposterous campaign bordering on political hysteria” created to deflect the public attention from a “corrupt officer” working with Delhi Chief Minister Arvin Kejriwal. He has already dismissed the allegations against him as “rubbish”. In a blog posting, Jaitley hit out at Kejriwal for attacking him and the NDA government as well as for using “unacceptable adjectives” against PM Modi in a tweet on the previous day. The SFIO, under the UPA rule, investigated and could not find a shred of evidence against me. Azad has been a long critic of Jaitley’s stewardship of DDCA, alleging financial irregularities. Kejriwal came out on Twitter to call the Prime Minister a “coward” and a “psychopath”.
“A fair investigation is not possible into DDCA’s irregularities until Jaitley remains Finance Minister”.
“If Kejriwal and if someone like that is trying to imagine, then he is possibly going through “hallucination”, possibly trying to live in the times of the Congress when the Congress possibly indulged in this kind of interference, but certainly not this government”, he added. No relation to allegations being probed. “He can’t pull me in by talking about some details of 2015 and 2014”, he explained, terming allegations as non-specific and unsubstantiated. Alleging that Jaitley appointed selectors without any proper criteria, the AAP said, “Only rich kids can play cricket for Delhi, and there is no place for the poor”.
