AAP lawmaker Alka Lamba attacked during anti-drug drive
AAP leader Ashutosh tweeted to say that the locals claimed the man worked in a sweet shop owned by BJP lawmaker OP Sharma.
They added that Lamba received minor head injuries and was rushed to Aruna Asaf Ali hospital.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), on Saturday, termed as “worrying” what it alleged was the Delhi Police’s “special interest in harassing the elected representatives and members” of the ruling AAP dispensation.
To mark the Quit India Movement Day, also known as “August Kranti Diwas”, on August 9, AAP MLA initiated an anti-drug drive and began a rally at 5 am from Yamuna Bazar, Kashmere Gate.
“We were holding discussions with drug addicts as a part of the anti-drug drive when I was attacked”, Lamba later said at a press conference.
AAP spokesperson Ashutosh tweeted some pictures of Lamba being given the first-aide. “Prosecution and punishing of the culprits in these crimes have been of least interest to the Delhi Police”, AAP Delhi incharge and MLA Saurabh Bharadwaj said. “We have arrested the accused following her complaint”, Verma said. “Our fight will continue”.
He further tweeted that the assailant was caught from Vishwas Nagar BJP MLA Om Prakash Sharma ” s shop. People told that somebody from the sweet shop pelted stones at Alka Lamba.
“…she was the only one in the crowd who was hit”.
