AAP seeks Jaitley’s resignation again over DDCA
Jaitley said his case, seeking Rs 10 crore in damages, would be against Kejriwal, Kumar Vishwas, Ashutosh, Sanjay Singh, Raghav Chadha and Deepak Bajpai.
In one other tweet, Delhi CM wrote, “Jaitley should cooperate with Delhi Government’s Commission of Inquiry and show his innocence”.
Top India players, including Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir, on Sunday came out strongly in support of Finance Minister and former DDCA President Arun Jaitley, who has been accused of turning a blind eye to financial irregularities during his tenure by AAP. The raid led to yet another Delhi-Centre battle for turf, with AAP choosing to target Jaitley over the corruption allegations.
“Kirti Azad has made it clear that Jaitley is the head of the (DDCA) scam”.
“AAP is using the route of defaming him (Jaitley) and his family members through namecalling in press conferences and the social media”, Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Jaitley’s junior in the Information and Broadcasting Ministry, said.
Rubbishing the charges against him, the Finance Minister called the charges against him baseless and wrong.
The AAP, however, said Jaitley should step down until he was proven innocent.
He also said that Arvind Kejriwal’s party was politicising the DDCA issue and warned that attack on Jaitley would harm AAP in the long run.
Kejriwal had alleged that the CBI raid was conducted to take possession of the DDCA files which were kept in his office.
Jaitley’s move came a day after Azad, elected to the Lok Sabha from Darbhanga in Bihar, held a press conference and alleged massive corruption in the affairs of the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA).
Authorities unearthed more than a dozen fake contracts and fake companies that operated between 2003 to 2013 to transfer millions of rupees in cash, a senior DDCA official told Reuters on conditions of anonymity.
Prasad, however, noted that a Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) probe undertaken by the Congress-led UPA government got “nothing at all” anything against Jaitley. Besides, he said, BJP has still not acted against Azad for targeting Jaitley.
Ashutosh said, “AAP is not scared if he wants to put up us in jail that’s the kind of politics he pursues”.
