Aaron Hernandez hires Casey Anthony’s lawyer
Former Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez has a new high profile attorney to represent him at his upcoming double murder trial.
In the statement, Baez identified the other members of what he called “the best legal team in the country” as Alex Spiro, a trial expert, and Linda Kenney Baden, a lawyer specializing in forensic sciences who also participated in the Anthony defense.
Hernandez was convicted of murdering Lloyd in Bristol Superior Court where he was represented by Boston attorneys Michael Fee, James L. Sultan and Charles Rankin.
For those that don’t know, Baez is one of the most sough after defense attorneys in the United States and he was the attorney that represented Casey Anthony in Florida.
Hernandez will appear in court again in connection with a separate double murder case, in which he is accused of killing two people in a drive-by shooting.
Baez helped Anthony win an acquittal when faced with first-degree murder charges in the death of her 2-year-old daughter, sparking a media frenzy and public outcry. The freeze includes a disputed $3.3 million signing bonus payment Hernandez says he is owed by the New England Patriots. The case garnered national media attention after photos showed Anthony partying in the days after her daughter’s disappearance.
In April 2015, he was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole after being convicted of murdering his onetime friend and future brother-in-law, Odin Lloyd, in June 2013.
