Aaron ramsey sits out wales’ opening world cup qualifier through injury
Wales manager Chris Coleman insists that he is happy in his job, despite being approached by Hull City earlier this summer.
Wenger said Wales could have rested Ramsey for their final Euro 2016 game against Andorra after securing qualification, but Coleman said there had been no contact from Arsenal and he took that as a “green light” to play him.
The midfielder suffered a hamstring problem which is expected to keep him out for around a month, meaning he will miss Wales’ tie against Moldova on September 5.
“I want to work at the top level, like everybody else, but that doesn’t mean to say that’s the Premier League for me”, the 46-year-old said.
“It’s a great league but what I’ve got here is very special and close to my heart”.
“I’m fully focused on what I need to do again for my country”.
Coleman, who guided Wales to the European Championship semifinals against the odds, said on Wednesday that “if someone comes and it’s the Premier League, anybody, you kind of look at it sideways”.
“I don’t think it’s fair on them, and I’m talking about the England players as well”.
There are recalls for Leicester forward Tom Lawrence, Newcastle defender Paul Dummett and Emyr Huws of Cardiff City after all three were left out of the Euros squad.
Aaron Ramsey and Jonny Williams are injured. He makes a huge impact for us, he’s a great player, it’s a shame.
“There was an approach, the FAW turned it down and that is the end”, Coleman said.
The player is expected to be out for another three weeks. “But that’s worldwide football, you have to roll with the punches, I’m not complaining”.
Real Madrid star Gareth Bale is included, but Crystal Palace playmaker Jonathan Williams is also injured and Nottingham Forest midfielder David Vaughan, 33, has retired from global football.
Coleman added: “There’s no surprise, scoring after about 75 seconds”.
“I’d like to see Hal settled, but he had an incredible campaign and he’s got to get the best for Hal”. That’s up to them, Aaron’s Arsenal’s player.
“He’s got the first class mentality, everybody wins”.
Lawrence, who spent time at Blackburn Rovers and Cardiff City on loan last season, missed the tournament through injury.
