Aaron Rodgers believes Packers can ‘run the table’
As usual, when facing the press, Coach Mike McCarthy seems to have a never-ending well of misplaced confidence to draw from, telling press that they “have the right kind of men”. Sure, they still have Aaron Rodgers, but he can’t win games on his own.
Yet, the preseason swagger hasn’t worn off. Our Packers writers have made their predictions for Monday night’s game, which can be read below. We’ve really been clicking at times the last few games.
Current CEO Mark Murphy disputed that notion (as expected) in a rare radio interview this week, arguing that teams with traditional owners often make mistakes when the traditional owners make decisions. That angst is real during the Packers four-game losing streak, one they’ll try to end when they face the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football (5:30 p.m. PT/8:30 p.m. ET, ESPN).
Nobody is pointing fingers or panicking.
Lacy’s absence has turned the offense into a one-dimensional passing attack. “He’s been consistent. He’s gotten us through this storm and I think we’re very, very close to being where we want to be”. We’ve got the trainers here and the staff here to get you back as fast as you can. I’m getting valuable experience and I’m playing confident. “We’ll take the full week of preparation”. “He was really doing some good things for us”. I truly believe in that. We have to win. Now, he just needs some help. That win can be the toughest, but can also act as a springboard for the rest of the season. Starters Jake Ryan (ankle) and Blake Martinez (knee) have each gone down in recent weeks.
When told that Nelson said he actually enjoys the bus ride in, McCarthy added: “Let’s not encourage them now”.
His message was more than just positivity. We’ve been without him for a while.
“He’s very accurate when he’s standing still in the pocket or when he’s mobile”, Jenkins said. Defensively, the Packers were flat out run out of the building, allowing a total of 515 yards of total offense while sacking Redskins QB Kirk Cousins just twice in the loss. He really is. He’s said that but I really see that to be true in the meeting rooms and on the field.
After all, the Packers and their leadership have fought through adversity before. He has won two NFL MVP awards, one Super Bowl MVP award, and led the Packers to the playoffs each of the past seven seasons. “You’ve got to play week in and week out like Sam’s not going to be here, and obviously he hasn’t been, and he’s not going to be”.
“The thing that you’re anxious about 10 games in is handling injuries, handling personnel changes, trying to match up against an opponent”, Schwartz said.
In the first quarter of the Green Bay Packers’ loss to Washington, wide receiver Davante Adams failed to secure a third-down pass from quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who threw to his left with Adams isolated against cornerback Bashaud Breeland. James Starks, the team’s long-time backup, only returned from the injured list two weeks ago. “Particularly in the early part of the season, you do want to play everybody more and so forth”. “I just think I can get comfortable”. But if that’s all you’ve got, if you don’t have an ounce of humility, then that just wears out. “At the same time, we have to go out there confidently and say when we have these chances to take shots, we’ve got to roll the dice and we’ve got to go make them … and build confidence”. Sproles (broken rib) is more likely to play than Mathews (knee), Pederson said. Now we have to go out and do it. The defensive line didn’t generate much pressure, getting just one sack.
