Aaron Sanchez: Blue Jays’ Sanchez suspended three games
The Bronx Bombers are still in first place in the AL East with a record of 59-45, but many are picking the Blue Jays after their big deadline moves to catch New York and take the division title when things are all said and done. “For me, it’s tough to follow a guy like Price, but I’m going to try and do my best”. Gibbons had been ejected for arguing with home plate umpire Jim Wolf one inning earlier. The Twins (54-52) lost their third straight. He’s basically a fastball/changeup pitcher, but his changeup is very good. Surprisingly, his statement may be more than the perpetual optimism that executives spew after the trade deadline. “I do think we have some at-bats where guys are trying to make up for whatever they’re at and hit a home run”.
The Minnesota Twins offense continued their struggles last night in their 3-1 lose to the Toronto Blue Jays.
Three runs was more than enough for Marco Estrada, who went back to dominating after the rough forth inning. If I had to bet on it now, I would bet on the Royals to repeat in the American League and the Cardinals to win the National League to give us an all-Missouri World Series.
Estrada allowed the lone Minnesota run off two hits through 62/3 innings of work while striking out five. The loss snapped Hughes’ string of six straight winning decisions. He also said he’s considering making some changes, including to the lineup – but nothing too drastic.
“I have a lot of respect for him behind the plate”.
The Blue Jays led 2-1 before adding a run in the sixth inning. The first baseman lined a ball down the left-field line and slid head first to beat the throw from Eddie Rosario. Luckily for Anthopoulos and Blue Jay fans, he did not disappoint, landing five time All-Stars Troy Tulowitzki and David Price.
Those were the 26th and 27th home runs that Hughes has given up this season. The Blue Jays did give up their top prospect in Daniel Norris, along with last year’s first round pick Jeff Hoffmann, but when you haven’t made the playoffs in 21 years, you have to take some chances.
And some infielders don’t want to straddle the base on a tag play – they might get spiked. Leadoff man Brian Dozier singled off Estrada’s leg in the fourth, after which he walked two of the next three batters. Third baseman Trevor Plouffe and designated hitter Miguel Sano walked to load the bases with one out.
Kansas City Royals Alcides Escobar is held back by coach Don Wakamatsu (22) as he gestures at Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Aaron Sanchez who was ejected from their baseball game in Toronto for hitting Escobar on Sunday August 2, 2015. Sanchez can appeal his suspension; Gibbons cannot.
Blue Jays’ manager John Gibbons was suspended for one game and relief pitcher Aaron Sanchez was suspended for three games and fined an undisclosed amount for their actions during Sunday’s game against the Royals, according to Major League Baseball’s Twitter account.
