ABC Supply 500 Indy Car Race at Pocono Raceway Postponed

Points leader Simon Pagenaud qualified 14th in windy conditions, while defending race victor Ryan Hunter-Reay crashed in morning practice and did not qualify. We adjusted on it all day and for the second half of the race, the vehicle was just awesome, awesome. “We had a very good baseline vehicle”.

“It’s a very good comeback, very happy to win here. It was definitely a long 500 miles”. “We are going to prepare like we always do and just stay focused for one more day”.

In second place in points, Power had a golden opportunity to cut down on Pagenaud’s big lead, and did so by taking the checkered flag for his first win at Pocono Raceway.

It is the second time this season rain has affected an IndyCar event.

“That’s good, we’re chipping away at it but obviously there’s still a lot to go”, Power said. Here are some drivers we like to contend for the win. “It was a rough start to the year … but we’re really coming back strong”.

The race had initially been scheduled for Sunday, but was postponed until Monday due to weather. “I was so in the zone with that vehicle today, and then for the engine to shut out while leading [laughs], this one’s going to be a hard one to put behind me”. Carpenter, who races only on ovals, has not finished three of his four races this season. “I don’t know”, Hunter-Reay said. Pagenaud finished 18th after a late crash and Power trails by 20 with three races remaining in the season. That’s what I was doing. The Frenchman gained several positions during the final pit-stop under caution by electing to just take on fuel. “The older you get, the more you let the race happen”. “Thanks to my team!”

Hunter-Reay and Aleshin took turns in the lead for the first two-thirds of the race, with Hunter-Reay content to ride second as both drivers methodically had a flawless race on the track and in the pits. I could pass anyone I wanted. Just not quite fast enough. Seriously, I was on the edge. There were also tributes to Bryan Clauson, three-time Indy 500 starter who was killed in a midget vehicle crash several weeks ago. I was going sideways, and I nearly lost my auto a couple times. “The vehicle bottomed and I went straight to the wall”. Pagenaud, who has a series-high four wins this season, came into the race with a 58-point lead on Team Penske teammate Will Power. Kimball, slowing to pit but in the fast lane, bumped Rossi, who was exiting his pit and attempting to merge right from the slow lane, sending him over the top of Castroneves, who was also exiting his pit.

Rossi and Castroneves had to retire from the race after the former’s vehicle landed on top of the latter’s following a collision with Kimball.

On the opening lap, Takuma Sato crashed hard but was uninjured.
