Abrams wants Ava DuVernay to direct a ‘Star Wars’ film

The Force Awakens has been one of the most anticiapted films of 2015 and is set to be one of the biggest when it finally opens next week. I just feel like, I hate when I go and see a trailer and I feel like I’ve just seen the whole movie in encapsulated form. Almost putting the amount of trailers released into double figures, the Chinese Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer has hit the small screen.

THR also writes that later in the event, “The Force Awakens” co-producer and Lucasfilm president Kennedy told panel discussion moderator Mindy Kaling, “Jar Jar is definitely not in the movie”. As such, there are many, many people in the Far East who have a lot invested in the success of the Star Wars film.

“We got a really good script and a good story, a good director and a wonderful cast for another continuation of the story surrounding Blade Runner”. What we do know comes from a few carefully cut-together trailers and toy packaging (really).

“(He brings) His own sensibility, his own craft, his own understanding of what the original films were important for, and his own experience as a young person watching them”, he said. Fairchild said he likes the newer movies, but isn’t a huge fan of one floppy-eared Gungan. Glad to hear that these movies will become a bit more flexible with the timeline once these two are wrapped. “I can’t believe I’m here” … constantly happening and I had to suppress that and say, “Yep, OK, let’s do it” … because the job was not to be a wide-eyed fanboy.

I’m the first fan who will tell you that these movies should truly be standalones. While there’s nothing too spoilery here, there are definitely some interesting reveals, so you may want to avoid this one just to be on the safe side!

So, it remains to be seen just how much influence Malick will actually have, but it certainly piques our interest.
