Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi: Execution Videos Banned By ISIS Leader
He has instructed the Islamic State’s media arm to stop broadcasting the full videos of public executions because they may be upsetting to Muslims and children.
Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, leader of the terrorist group Islamic State, has imposed a ban on video shooting executions of prisoners and hostages.
The Britain-based daily cited pro-IS media sources as saying that al-Baghdadi has ruled that only the initial cutting of the victim’s throat and the final placing of their head on their body may be shown in the beheading videos.
ARA News reported that, according to sources, al-Baghdadi was responding to the feelings of Muslims who regarded the videos as “disgusting and scary to children”.
‘Instead of banning the release of such videos, Baghdadi should have rather banned the crimes behind the scenes.
“But he has already justified the barbarism of his followers, and his decision makes no sense”.
While violent recruitment videos have long been ISIS’s stock in trade, the group’s leadership is said to be concerned that jihadists trying to one-up each other are taking things too far, and have issued an edict admonishing fighters to tone things done to “respect the sensitivities” of viewers.
Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the group’s leader, has told his commanders the graphic clips could offend youngsters.
However, with other groups like Boko Haram now following ISIS’s lead and releasing videos of them murdering their enemies, al-Baghdadi’s order may not mean the end of such vile clips. He was reportedly transported out of Iraq for medical treatment and may now be in Syria. While Jihadi John is infamous for the ISIS beheading videos, these so-called “cubs of the caliphate” or “ISIS cubs” are being trained in these intimidation tactics.
