Accidents Close Highway In Old Lyme
The fatal crash occurred about 5:30 a.m.in the northbound lanes and involved two tractor trailers and five passenger vehicles.
Two people are dead after an 8-car crash that closed I-95 north in Old Lyme for almost eight hours Saturday. The Connecticut State Police have confirmed for the Register that one person died in the second crash, which involved several vehicles.
An earlier crash tied up the southbound side near the same location at around 4:30 a.m. Police say a truck driven by 62-year-old Arturo Paez of Stratford caught fire after it went off the road and struck a concrete bridge support.
A street fight involving several people in northern New Jersey ended when a man was shot in the back. One is suspected to have sustained serious injuries.
Crews on the scene declared it a mass casualty because of the number of victims involved.
The state Department of Transportation said it did not know how long the highway would be closed. A tractor-trailer was also believed to be involved in that crash, WFSB-TV said.
Life Star and multiple ambulances transported patients to the hospital.
