Accumulating snow and bitterly cold wind chills for Tuesday
The snow is expected to ease off on Thursday (tomorrow) with scattered snow showers throughout the day.
Little or no accumulation is expected along the shoreline, while up to 2 inches of snow is possible in the hill-towns.
“Temperatures will then fall sharply leading to icy stretches on untreated roads”.

STV weather presenter Jo Farrow said: “Low pressure coming in from the Atlantic today will come up against the cold air over Scotland this evening”.
Winds will shift to the south late tonight, bringing in clouds and an overnight low in the single digits. Some flurries are possible Monday thanks to the winds moving over the warm-than-average Great Lakes.
“Over the next few days temperatures are unlikely to get much higher than 5C (41F) or 6C (42.8F) pretty much anywhere and we are likely to see more widespread frost”.
New London County will have milder air mix in and while it will see some snow flakes mixed in with rain showers, no real accumulation is expected there, according to the National Weather Service. Tonight: Variably cloudy skies. This spell of weather could last up to month and temperatures could stay low until the early stages of spring. Wind chills: Low teens. Southwest winds 10 to 15 miles per hour.
Cloud and morning wintry precipitation will clear to leave a cold and sunny day. Wind speeds will continue to diminish through the evening.
Wednesday: Snow showers. High near 23. Farther inland along the Merritt/Wilbur Cross parkways and I-84, temperatures will be several degrees cooler, which could make roads a bit more slick.
