Acer Unveils a Windows 10 Convertible and Portable All-in-One
With Microsoft announcing its own hardware for Windows 10 recently, the roadshow continues, bringing more devices from more manufacturers.
“We worked closely with Acer to help ensure their devices would make the most of Windows 10”, said Terry Myerson, Executive Vice President of the Windows and Devices Group, Microsoft. Acer is one of those companies that followed suit as they debut two new products, the Aspire R14 convertible laptop and the Aspire Z3-700 AIO.
The Acer Jade Primo is expected to be one of the first smartphones to support Windows 10’s Continuum feature, allowing you to turn your phone into a sort of desktop by connecting it to a docking station and hooking up a keyboard, mouse and display. Its slim 360-degree dual torque hinge accommodates four usage modes: notebook mode, display, pad and tent.
The Aspire R 14 will be available in North America later this month, starting at US$700. With battery life of up to 5 hours you can take the Aspire Z3-700 almost anywhere and have enough juice for a few truly productive work, or even entertainment wherever it’s needed. The company did not specify when Aspire Z3-700 will be available in the U.S. Inside, you’ll find your choice of Intel Pentium or Celeron processors, up to 8GB of RAM, and HDD or SSD storage options. The new Aspire Z3-700 also supports input via dedicated stylus.
Yes, Acer says that a smartphone, a mobile device that you mostly keep in your pocket, will come with a dock that connects to a monitor or TV, turning the smartphone into a PC.
Key to the performance of the new Acer offerings is the introduction of Intel’s new 6th Gen Core processors that will be revealed in Australia on Wednesday at the Sydney Opera House.
Acer also unveiled a new convertible Windows 10 laptop. Also included in both devices is Acer TrueHarmony Plus technology with Dolby Audio, giving users powerful and immersive audio quality, as well as Acer BluelightShield, which allows users to custom-tune the displays to reduce eye strain. The prices, availability, and specs such as the chips used depend on the region that the devices are purchased in.
