Activist Rebukes UN for Failure to Act Against ISIS Genocide
Maybe it’s “Time” people started valuing brains over baby-making potential. News: “Amal Clooney Shows Baby Bump in What Could be the Ultimate International Women’s Day Poster”. “Why is it that nothing has been done?” she asked the UN.
The wife of actor George Clooney, who is based at Doughty Street Chambers in London, accused the United Nations of “inaction” in a powerful speech, in the presence of United Nations members including Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi.
As part of her research ahead of this event the 39-year-old has conducted interviews with young girls and past soldiers “who were raped and enslaved by ISIS”.
The story appeared to have been cross-published to Motto from People magazine, another Time Inc. property.
Mrs Clooney, who is married to actor George, said IS has declared to “destroy” the Yazidi ethnic group by committing murder, rape and forced conversions while also attacking Christians, and Shia and Sunni Muslims.
Amal Clooney was at her stylish best when she recently attended a charity event in NY dressed in a lovely pink dress that gave a nice view of her growing baby bump as well.
TIME did not immediately respond to Mashable’s request for comment. Twitter, meanwhile, had plenty to say.
She was in New York City to address the United Nations on Friday about reported genocidal abuses at the hands of the terrorist group ISIS.
The Oxford-educated barrister, of course, also received similar treatment from the usual suspects.
Amal is now expecting twins with Clooney, and Clooney recently disclosed that they will both be avoiding unsafe places their work may have previously taken them.
Amal is preparing to enter the last trimester of her pregnancy and still wanders New Yorks’ courts.
“Words, tears and my testimony have not made you act”. Clooney was accompanied by her client Nadia Murad as well as members of state from Belgium, Iraq and the United Kingdom.
“Killing ISIS on the battlefield is not enough. I have put my personal life aside to seek justice, rather than focusing on my own healing”.
