Actress-model Upton tweets her rage after Verlander denied Cy Young Award

Upton wasn’t done. She went on to demand that Major League Baseball fire those who did not vote for Verlander.

That didn’t sit well with Verlander, who went to Twitter to tell Feinsand “She wasn’t upset about me losing”.

The Cy Young Award is given to the best pitcher in each league based off of their performance during the regular season.

In the end, Verlander lost by five points after Porcello received 18 second-place votes. Instead, he was left off of two ballots altogether – voters rank their top five choices – and both ballots came from Tampa Bay voters. Porcello went 22-4 with a 3.15 ERA and had almost six strikeouts for every walk, the best ratio in the majors.

Controversy erupted Wednesday night when Rick Porcello won the AL Cy Young award.

The second place finisher in the balloting was Justin Verlander the veteran pitcher for the Detroit Tigers and third was Corey Kluber the right-hander from the Cleveland Indians.

Though Verlander nabbed the prize in 2011, his former teammate – and first-time victor – also weighed in on the social media firestorm.

Scherzer, who won the American League award in 2013, received 25 of the 30 first-place votes in a runaway victory over Jon Lester, who was a distant second ahead of Chicago Cubs teammate Kyle Hendricks. Pretty Ricky too pitched well enough to muster up an ERA of 3.15 accompanied by a 1.009 WHIP.

Scherzer became the sixth pitcher to garner Cy Young awards in both leagues. His most complete performance of the season came against his former team in May, when he recorded just the fourth 20-strikeout performance in Major League Baseball history.
