Actress Priya Prakash Varrier to make Bollywood debut?

The complainants alleged that the song “Manikya Malaraya poovi” in the film written and directed by Omar Lulu had an “objectionable” reference to Prophet Muhammad’s wife.

Indian Malayalam actor Priya Prakash Warrier came up with another viral clip and photo from the romantic-comedy movie “Oru Adaar Love”.

Having selected the apt occasion of Valentine’s Day to promote the film, director Omar Lulu’s brief to the newcomer was also fitting.

The song from the Malayalam film, which now has Varrier’s fan following growing like wildfire, has clocked millions of views in less than a week since release.

Manikya Malaraya Poovi, which means precious pearl flower, reimagines this old folk song, and is now under scrutiny for making references to the Prophet’s relationship with his wife, Khadija. Overwhelmed with her instant stardom, Priya said “I do not know how to react”. Malabar Muslims have been singing this song since 1978.

“We have also demanded action against the film’s producers, director and the lyricist for this offensive song and want that it should be deleted from the film before its release next month”, Ahmed told IANS.

A complaint has been registered against Priya and the producer of the viral song for hurting sentiments.

Telugu film actor Allu Arjun tweeted: “The cutest video I have seen in recent times”.

Priya Prakash Varrier is now declared as the national crush of India. “Already, we had received overwhelming support from various sections asking us not to drop the song from YouTube and the movie”.

The 30-second clip shows a young schoolgirl and schoolboy exchanging smiles, eyebrow wiggles and winks from across the way.

A fringe outfit from Mumbai, Raza Academy, too has threatened to protest against the song for hurting the religious sentiments of Muslims across the world. Collectively, Oru Adaar Love and Priya Prakash Varrier were mentioned 2,723 times on editorial media and 89,785 times on social media globally, in the last week alone. While we can concur with Priya’s sentiment, it’s rather sweet how she’s wearing a simple floral printed outfit, her hair done anyhow.
