Actual heroes re-create bravery in ’15:17 to Paris’
It was a particularly demanding sequence for Stone, who had to re-enact his struggle with the alleged attacker, Ayoub El Khazzani (played by Ray Corasani), and his efforts to save Magoolian, who had been shot while struggling with El Khazzani and was bleeding profusely.
Based on actual events and directed by Clint Eastwood, The 15:17 to Paris is an inspiring and faithful account and recreation of the heroics of three young men going up against pure evil and saving lives.
What is more clearly established is that Spencer is a war fanboy, and that the other two are only happy to follow, as he displays his collection of real and fake guns.
He allegedly emerged topless from a toilet cubicle with the intent to kill mid-journey.
Eastwood’s decision to cast the three heroes was a questionable one (originally, he was planning to hire actors) although the idea was a commendable one.
“I reprised my role as a nurse”, said Nathalie Capron, who looked after the injured when the train pulled into Arras station in northern France.
Ms Mauger-Poliak has not ruled out taking action against Warner Brothers to have the film suspended while the judge decides if the authorities have enough evidence for the case to go to trial. Some have even called his latest, “The 15:17 to Paris”, a film about the three young, unarmed Americans who thwarted a solo terrorist attack in Europe in 2015, “Sully on a Train”.
After tussling with American teacher Mark Moogalian and shooting him in the neck, he found himself in a auto with a trio of young Americans filled up with youthful bravado, military training and a desire to not die lying down. The men play themselves in their early 20s, when Sadler was attending California State University in Sacramento, Skarlatos was in the Oregon National Guard and Stone was serving in the Air Force. Sadler thought Michael B. Jordan would be cool for him, Stone had visions of Chris Hemsworth and Skarlatos had landed on Zac Efron. “We were just trying to handle the situation and deal with one problem after another”, Alek Skarlotos said.
The American heroes managed to prevent the alleged terror attack, meaning no lives were lost that day.
In addition to the onboard action, 15:17 to Paris will focus on the backstories of the three childhood friends.
“So many little details put us there”, Skarlatos said. Here, he shines it on Skarlatos, Stone and Sadler, all of whom look understandably thrilled to be in a Clint Eastwood movie.
Stone discussed his own search for objective, experiencing a string of closed doors while pursuing a military career and, eventually, becoming an Air Force medical technician.
“The man is 87-years-old and does 10 bodyweight dips out of nowhere”. Against this, Dorothy Byskal’s script and primary protagonist Spencer Stone insist that the events on that train were a long time coming. It’s an ambitious and admirable choice for the veteran director, however, the result is a mixed bag of a film that does not work the way it should. There’s honestly not a lot of narrative objective to those flash-forwards, and one has to wonder what this would have looked like without them; probably still boring as hell, but at least a little more competently told.
“Things that I wanted were denied to me because it was all leading me to the things I needed”, Stone said. Instead, we get to know Stone and Skarlatos better, who raised by “single moms”, are having a hard time of it at school – for reasons that are unconvincing at best. Eastwood tacks on a first act that takes us back to their childhood, when the trio grew up together and became brothers for life.
“It was the most fun two months of my life, our lives”, Sadler said. Just a couple of weeks ago we saw The Post, in which Steven Spielberg did not hesitate to make his disapproval of the current Donald Trump administration known.
