Adam Gase new Dolphins coach
After one year with the Bears, Gase now has his first head coaching job, succeeding interim head coach Dan Campbell, who is expected to stay with the team as an assistant coach.
Gase has been linked to head coaching interest from multiple teams, including the Cleveland Browns, Miami Dolphins and New York Giants. Having both Tannehill and Suh on the same page with their next head coach certainly helps the Dolphins reel in an offensive coach of Gase’s caliber. He only has six years of coaching experience at the National Football League level and it would be irresponsible for the Eagles to give him the position without giving a few more seasoned candidates (like Hue Jackson or Lovie Smith) an opportunity.
Gase spent the 2015 season working with the Chicago Bears under John Fox, the Broncos’ head coach from 2011-14.
“I’m very happy for Adam”, Manning said.
“A 37-year-old offensive coordinator for the Chicago Bears, he’s up and coming”. “I think he needs a guy that’s going to have his back”.
Tannehill, the eighth overall selection in the 2012 draft, had a breakout season in 2014, but regressed this season as the Dolphins went 6-10.
Gase did not make any predictions on Ryan Tannehill and admitted to not seeing a lot of film on the quarterback but said that it will all be about evaluation, of all the players.
Regardless of whether a second interview was or will be scheduled, it does sound as though a second interview with Gase will take place.
KOETTER INTERVIEWS FOR JOB: Buccaneers offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter interviewed Saturday for the San Francisco 49ers coaching vacancy, a person with direct knowledge of the meeting said. He’s probably the offensive coordinator that I’ve spoken to more than any coordinator in my career. He’s an extremely hard worker – a grinder. I’ve always been impressed with his work ethic and his eagerness to learn more.
Gase didn’t play college football, but he worked his way up the coaching ranks, starting off as a graduate assistant for Nick Saban at LSU.
But perhaps no single player in Miami is more important to Gase right now than Tannehill, whose contract dictates the two will be paired together for at least a season or two.
