Adam Johnson gets the boot

The sacked Sunderland footballers has had his loyal WAG by his side throughout his legal defence against four charges relating to an alleged sexual encounter with an unnamed 15-year-old girl.

A police interview, which was recorded in April past year, was played to the court and in it the girl told officers that she performed a sex act on Johnson “because I didn’t know what his reaction would be if I didn’t”.

They began texting each other shortly afterwards, and Johnson gave her a jersey when they met, and asked for a “thank you kiss and more” in return. Mr Johnson told her: “You owe me for this” and “Am I going to get a thank you kiss?”.

Johnson, who was sacked by English club Sunderland last week, has already pleaded guilty to grooming and another charge of sexual activity with a 15-year-old girl.

The teenage girl told the court how Johnson encouraged her to send him naked pictures of herself.

Just before the girl broke down, she told the barrister: “At the time I didn’t realise it was wrong”.

In a statement, Sunderland announced Thursday that “in light of Adam Johnson’s guilty pleas, the club has today terminated his contract with immediate effect”. “I didn’t feel very good”.

She added: “I didn’t want to believe it had happened”. I had not deleted his messages, and I did not want him to know. I knew I had done something wrong.

He was wearing a dark blue suit, with a white shirt and a dark tie.

Mr Pownall asked the teenager why she didn’t tell police about the planned meeting which had been due to take place the day before the girl went to the police over the relationship.

“I was anxious about everyone finding out about it. I was trying to cover the whole thing up”.

He then said to her: “You in the previous year at school?”

The court heard that the girl was a season ticket holder who did not want the messaging between herself and her favourite footballer to stop, despite feeling “awkward”. “It took him a while to do that”, she said.

“Then he said he wanted to “give me a kiss and more”. He got his hand down my pants.

“I was upset, worried, I panicked.

Then everyone started to find out about it”, the girl told police.

She said: “The Crown’s case is that he is guilty of further and more serious sexual activity”.
