Adam Lallana confident of Arsenal scalp
The former Aston Villa man, who was signed for £32.5m last month (via BBC Sport), has now scored twice in three total appearances for us, his new club, having previously got off the mark with a thunderous strike during our friendly win over Swindon Town. “We’re going there to try to get the win”.
Lallana feels that the Reds will have a clear game plan for the Gunners and is confident that his side will put up a good showing at a venue where they lost 5-1 last season in the corresponding fixture. We showed that there and we took it into the Bournemouth game. “It was a great ball in from Hendo [Jordan Henderson] and Benteke is a predator in the box”, he told the official Liverpool website.
He’s quoted in the Liverpool Echo, saying: “That finish was brilliantly technically – getting good contact on the ball like that”.
“We know there’s room for improvement and we’re working hard in training to achieve that”.
“It will be a test for the back four next week but if they can come through that then that will give them confidence that they have more organisation, and that can help massively”. Bad news for Liverpool, as they will be without their captain against one of the best teams in the Barclays Premier League.
Liverpool will have the weekend to see how their rivals get on in the Premier League before their game against Arsenal in front of the Sky Sports cameras on Monday Night Football.
‘People asked questions about our mentality and our fighting spirit last week at Stoke. “There’s no doubt we have a lot of ability in the squad and I think you’ll see our performances improve over the coming weeks”.
Liverpool now move on to an even tougher task away against Arsenal next Monday night, with many seeing it as the first real opportunity to really measure both sides’ current level.
