Adam Lallana Determined to Stay Fit and Continue Improving at Liverpool
Liverpool playmaker Adam Lallana has revealed that he has set some targets for himself for the new season, but he won’t delve into the details and will concentrate on doing his best for the team.
He said: “Physically I am in great shape at the moment – and I’ve not missed a training session or a game to date”.
“I was just itching to get on but you have to be as patient as you can be”, he told LFCTV GO.
Jordan Henderson recently spoke about his high expectations from Lallana this season and the England global was confident he would not let down his captain. “It was a great result for us at the weekend and we need to back it up with another win on Monday night against Bournemouth”.
But in a lethargic, uneventful and frankly drab 90 minutes decided by an early goal of the season contender from Philippe Coutinho, defying the boredom like a crimson rose spouting from a bed of horse manure, there were plenty of signs suggesting Liverpool’s Plan A for the 2015/16 Premier League campaign doesn’t necessarily work.
But focusing primarily on the first of those, I think the performance of Dejan Lovren can not be overlooked – where many expected him to falter he stood up to the physical demands of a fixture such as Stoke away. “I think it’s going to be really interesting how Brendan Rodgers sets his side up over the coming months”.
“He doesn’t feel comfortable there and I just feel he has to play in a central role”.
Liverpool have a big squad this season, and while it should be trimmed down before the end of the transfer window, Lallana is relishing the fight he’ll be in to secure a regular first team place.
“He got the victor at Blackburn in the FA Cup last season, but I was at the game at Ewood Park and he was actually playing wide right, and it just didn’t look right“.
“Maybe that’s a side of our game that hopefully you’ll see a bit more of this season and if it results in victories, then who is going to ask questions about it?” If that happens, then the hope will be for the goals to start to come, something the midfielder has targeted for the coming season.
