Adam Lallana: Scores winner and has an assist in thrilling win
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has admitted that he is really happy with this team after they snatched three points in a dramatic last-gasp 5-4 win over Norwich. “Go and do what you can and if they get another two, then that is it, but try everything anyway'”.
“Now you saw it’s like a self-fulfilling prophecy”.
“We all love Flanno but he had a long time [out injured] and 90 minutes or more is maybe not the best thing”.
Liverpool had won an epic contest 5-4 and Henderson told LFC TV: “There were a lot of ups and downs in the game but overall we have come out with three points. We can not see where (the season) will end, especially without glasses”.
So a minute after the penalty, Jordan Henderson clawed the difference in the scoreline to one goal, grabbed the ball and ran back to midfield to restart the game.
“But what will be a real worry is the amount of goals they concede”.
Yes they keep on going and he demands that from his teams but I’m not sure I’d describe them as being resolute given the sheer quantity of goals they’re shipping and leads they’re giving up.
“But we played football, we made it 1-0, we should have made it 2-0”.
Despite admitting to being a big fan of the Belgian, Klopp continues to appear uncertain as to the best way to deploy Christian Benteke. “It’s obvious we’ve not done too well, but we are a football team and always working on our weaknesses, as we are in this short period between [games]”, Klopp said at the club’s training complex.
Parity was restored with over a quarter of the game still remaining, as Lallana got in behind the very advanced Norwich back-line and centred for Firmino, who took a neat touch and side-footed the ball home. “I think it is insane what we are doing”.
Hughes is hoping captain Ryan Shawcross (hip and back) will recover in time to play after coming off against Leicester, a game which Marko Arnautovic (hamstring) was left out of as a precaution.
Klopp said Firmino was answering critics, who questioned if the Brazilian – lacking the physical presence of Benteke – was a striker. I’ve looked at the goals – they’re basic, simple goals.
“It’s not as if it’s anything special or somebody’s dribbled past three, four players and put one in the top corner”.
“We know how to defend, we have to do it now”.
Former Everton man Naismith, a few minutes after being shoved over in the box by Milner but receiving nothing for it, secured the lead for his new side by receiving Hoolahan’s short pass and driving an angled shot across Mignolet from close to the corner of the six-yard area.
