Adele album enjoys decade’s biggest US sales year
According to NIELSEN MUSIC, “25” sold another 363,000 equivalent album units for the week ending DECEMBER 31st to spend her sixth consecutive week at #1, for a total of 7.44 million US sales, 307k of which were pure album sales. It is the biggest seller in over a decade, since Usher sold 7.98 million copies of Confessions in 2004. My favorite is how it’s the first album since 2001 to sell more than 300,000 copies every week for six weeks since its release.
Becoming the best-selling album of 2015 is just another accomplishment to add to 25.
The numbers are in for the ultimate week of album sales in 2015 & Adele in fact continues to be at number one with 25.
On the Digital Songs chart, which measures online song sales, Adele’s ballad “Hello” held steady at No. 1 with 327,000 copies sold in the last week of the year.
And this just proves, once again, that Adele is queen. (Number Four), Fetty Wap’s self-titled album (Number Five), the Weeknd’s Beauty Behind the Madness (Number Six), Selena Gomez’s Revival (Number Seven), Chris Brown’s Royalty (Number Eight) and Taylor Swift’s 1989, who opened 2015 at Number One, at Number Nine.
