Adele bans trump from using her music
Trump had been using Adele’s song Rolling in the Deep as warm-up music at his rallies.
Donald Trump “could’ve had it all”, but now he’ll have nothing, as Adele has denied him permission to use any of her music on the campaign trail.
Though the statement doesn’t specifically condemn Mr Trump, many have taken it as a clear message to him: Someone Like You shouldn’t be using Adele’s music. He sent trump not just one, but two, cease-and-desist letters, as Trump and his campaign had continued to use Tyler’s songs after the first letter had not done the trick. “Go f*** yourselves, the lot of you – you sad, attention-grabbing, power-hungry little men”, Stipe told The Daily Beast in an email, regarding Trump’s use of the song. Fans noted that her songs were hardly appropriate for the Trump campaign.
Trump previously used her hit songs “Rolling in the Deep” and “Skyfall” at a few events to pump up the crowd, but that will soon end.
Adele, whose blockbuster success has been attributed to her ability to attract audiences across wide demographic lines, did not mention Trump by name.
Historically, presidential candidates have known the important role music can play in their election bids.
Here’s two public figures we’d never have put in the same sentence: Adele and Donald Trump have made joint headlines this week.
Donald Trump might be an Adele fan, but it appears that the feeling is not mutual.
That being said, there’s always room for an artist to complain that their image and reputation is being damaged by the repeated use of a song without their permission.
“If I, as a reasonable person, at a Trump or [Mike] Huckabee rally where Adele was played thought that Adele was endorsing the campaign she should have a cause of action”, Gordon said.
