Adele has already sold 2.3 million copies of disc
Not shocking: Adele’s 25 is selling like mad since it was released Friday.
Adele’s 25 just keeps on getting bigger. Bieber can rest assure that Adele won’t be able to top his record as her album 25 only has 11 tracks, it just happens to be 11 tracks that her fans are loving. Adele has outsold her competitors in the industry by a much, much wider margin as compared to *NSYNC, partly due to her controversial decision to withhold the album from major streaming services.
Adele’s independent record label, XL Recordings, had previously announced that the album would not be available on Apple Music, Spotify or other major streaming services.
The album 25 has sold a record 2.3 million copies in the USA in the first three days of its release. Swift’s “1989” sold 1,287,000 in its first week. It was the top-selling album two years in a row, moving 5.8 million in 2011 and 4.4 million in 2012.
For the all-time rankings of most albums ever sold in a week, early 2000s acts are clustered near the top of the list. Her album “21” was best known for the tear-jerker “Someone Like You”.
Of course her unbelievable voice and emotionally-charged songs are major factors but what else makes Adele so successful with her albums when she only started out by sharing her music in MySpace before finally landing a record deal in 2006?
With over three days left in the sales tracking week, Adele is likely to increase her record number of first week album sales in the United States by a significant amount. Taylor Swift’s early-career takeover of country made her recent shift to pop explosive.
