Adele, Kendrick Lamar to perform at Grammys
The 58th Annual GRAMMY AWARDS are produced by AEG Ehrlich Ventures for The Recording Academy.
Adele’s most recent album, 25, was released in November and broke numerous sales records within weeks of its release. Adele will perform, too.
Rapper Kendrick Lamar, however, has the most Grammy nods for 2016 at 11, including song of the year for “Alright”; pop duo/group performance for “Bad Blood” with Taylor Swift; and album of the year for To Pimp a Butterfly. Also joining the performance roster is Little Big Town, who earned nominations for Best Country Album for Pain Killer and Country Duo/Group Performance for “Girl Crush”. It will air live for both East and West coast time zones for the first time in its history. The Weeknd is up for seven awards, and Little Big Town is in the running for two.
Adele, who has won 10 Grammys, will qualify for nominations at the 2017 Grammy Awards because she released music after the September 30, 2015, deadline for the 2016 awards show. Lamar was notably overlooked for his 2012 album good kid m.A.A.d. city, as the Awards named Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ The Heist the Best Rap Album of the Year. Additional performers will be announced as the awards show draws closer. The program will salute Lionel Richie, the 2016 MusiCares Person of the Year. Entertainment icon and two-time GRAMMY victor LL COOL J is set to host Music’s Biggest Night for the fifth consecutive year. If you would like to discuss another topic, look for a relevant article.
