Adele leads UK’s Brit Awards nominations with 4 nods
Other artists with multiple nominations include Glynne (3), Calvin Harris (Columbia, 3), Coldplay (2) and Little Mix (Syco, 2).
Before Christmas it was announced that Coldplay and Canadian superstar Bieber – who has enjoyed phenomenal United Kingdom chart success this year – would be taking to the stage at London’s O2 arena on February 24.
Pop star Justin Bieber, hip-hop artist Kendrick Lamar and rapper The Weeknd are among those nominated for worldwide male solo artist while American pop singers Ariana Grande and Meghan Trainor and Australian Courtney Barnett are included in the running for the female version of the award.
The official nominations for the 2016 awards will be announced today, so stay tuned!
All of the above-mentioned artists have also either won or been named as finalists in the critics’ choice category previously.
Jess Glynne can’t believe she’s been nominated for British Female Solo Artist at the upcoming BRIT Awards, admitting it’s “very surreal”.
Meanwhile, Coldplay could make BRITs history by becoming the most successful artist to win the British Group and the MasterCard British Album of the Year awards. “We wish to honor his extraordinary life and work at the forthcoming Brit Awards and pay a fitting tribute to one of our greatest icons”.
Ant & Dec will return as hosts of the main show and there will be a tribute to David Bowie after his death on January 10. “Had a good old sob down the phone followed by all of us freaking out on our group chat, getting all teary and soppy…we can’t believe it. Every year we watch The Brits Awards and say ‘imagine if we got to do that” and here we are’.
