Adele makes pop peers emotional at BRIT Awards
Earlier in the night the 27-year-old had a triumphant evening where she was honoured with the Global Success and solo female prizes, as well as having her single Hello and album 25 recognised. The singer dedicates the awrd to her boyfriend Simon saying: “Thank you for our lovely son”.
Rounding off the Top 5 are show openers and British Group victors Coldplay with A Head Full Of Dreams.
There were also performances on the night by Britain’s James Bay, who was awarded best British male, and Justin Bieber, who was awarded best global male.
The late British rock star David Bowie, who died last month, was paid an emotional tribute by Scottish singer Annie Lennox, who called Bowie a “quintessential visionary” who would be “loved and revered for as long as the earth still spins”.
Newzeland’s Lorde sings Life on Mars.
In a moving speech, Gary Oldman said David Bowie maintained his humour even after his cancer diagnosis.
They went on to win best British group – making them the most successful band in the ceremony’s history.
For her performance, Adele did a quick-change into a red-based Valentino dress, dripping in sequins and accented by stars and stripes.
After a massive rally of support from their fans, One Direction triumph in the British Artist Video category.
The “Hello” hitmaker appeared to be on high after snapping up a record four awards at the glamorous ceremony earlier this week but it seems things got a bit too much for her when she arrived at a party, held at The Arts Club in Mayfair in London, as she chose to leave shortly after her arrival.
As it stands, her total of four awards is equalled only by Blur, who won the same number in 1995 for their album Parklife.
Adele, who accepted her trophy for Best British Female Solo, said, “I’d like to take this moment to publicly support Kesha”.
Another party-goer told the Evening Standard: “I was in the entrance hall when Adele walked in”.
“For you all to be so kind to me is so nice”. Kesha has been locked in an increasingly nasty legal case with Dr. Luke and Sony which majorly hit the headlines this past week after a judge in the case denied her plea to be freed from her contract with the music company, who Adele is also under contract with.
