Adele’s 25 available on Pandora
The singer, who lives in Hove, revealed the news in a video on Facebook this afternoon.
25’s download haul is already more than the former single-week download record-holder: Lady Gaga’s Born This Way, which sold 662,000 digital copies in its first week (ending May 29, 2011).
Adele’s “25” also became the top-selling album of 2015 overtaking the 1.7 million copies of Taylor Swift’s “1989”.
The Official Charts Company confirmed the numbers and notes that “Be Here Now” was released on a Thursday so only had three days of sales registering towards its first chart week.
Adele’s comeback single Hello rocketed straight to number one when it was first aired last month.
Tickets for the 25 tour will be available to members of Adele’s website on 1 December before going on general sale on 4 December at 9am.
“Being in such an fantastic relationship with someone that’s so there for me and so loyal and is really part of my core now”, Adele said.
“Hello” was released on October 23 as a single-song teaser for the album which has 10 other songs.
25 is the best-selling album in its first week since they started keeping track of such things back in 1991, and she’s not even done.
“Adele’s a big Tottenham fan and, with Spurs well-represented in the England squad at the moment, there’s a chance she could agree to record the Three Lions’ Euro 2016 song”.
Adele’s decision to pull her new album from Spotify for limiting her album from its free tier has helped her boost sales for her new CD albums. In Britain, it sold 737,000 copies in its first week.
Adele declined to make her album available through music-streaming services, including Apple Music and Spotify, forcing listeners to buy it either digitally and at stores. It bests the record previously set by NSYNC’s No Strings Attached, which debuted with 2.416 million copies in 2000, Billboard reports.
