Adele’s ’25’ on track to break sales records
“Hello”, the first single from the album, released at the end of October, has logged more than 400 million plays on YouTube and topped the US charts for the past three weeks.
“We love and respect Adele, as do her 24 million fans on Spotify”.
Nielsen Music said Monday that Adele will nearly certainly break the one-week record for album sales, set by ‘NSYNC in 2000 with 2.4 million for “No Strings Attached”.
After dropping on Friday, 25 sold more than 900,000 copies in just the first day (!!!), which would put it well on track for a record-setting first week!
Mark Mulligan, the founder of MiDiA research, said: ‘The important thing that Adele did with 21 was she managed to get lots of fading music buyers out of the woodwork and buying albums.
If it keeps providing inspiration for artwork like this, take your time and continue letting life happen, Adele.
Sit down for this bombshell: Adele’s new album “25” is quite popular. Her comeback track sold 1.11 million digital songs, setting a new record. It couldn’t hit 3 million… right?!
However, a few well-respected music sites have thrown their support behind the Londoner, like the 405 who have stated that the album is a “saviour record for a quarter life crisis, a sing-a-long for one of life’s most hard stages”.
Adele has already secured the second fastest-selling album in Official Chart history, with four days of the chart week still left to run.
With Adele’s latest album expected to be one of the most anticipated and successful music records of the year, Spotify has surely suffered a great loss.
The full sales numbers for Adele’s “25” will be released November 29. The Grammy Award-winning music artist’s first single from the album is “Hello” which was shot in Canada and directed by Xavier Nolan.
Adele made news last week when the artist wouldn’t allow the album to be on any streaming service including Apple Music and Spotify. The show even prepared a sketch that featured a family on Thanksgiving Day suddenly singing “Hello”.
