Adele’s ’25’ rules the holiday season charts; spends fifth week on top
Adele’s 25 has now sold a whopping 7.13 million albums since November’s release! The commercial success has now seen three weeks of over one million sales across the nation, according to Billboard. The lead up to Christmas obviously helped to give album sales a push, with consumers purchasing the album as a Christmas gift during the holiday rush. The British singer’s album “25” moved 1.16 million albums for the week ending December 24.
The results mark the third week that the album has sold over one million, and give it a secure place at the top of Billboard’s music album chart. That’s impressive enough on its own, but when you consider that it was also the first album to sell a million copies in two separate weeks, the stat becomes mind-boggling.
At No. 6, One Direction’s “Made in the A.M.” falls from last week’s No. 4 with 92,000 units (up 38 percent). Chris Brown’s Royalty set came in No. 3.
Coming in at No. 2 this week, Justin Bieber’s objective sold 229,000 copies.
Finally at fifth lace was the soundtrack for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, based on the latest installment of the movie franchise.
