Adele’s new album leaked online
“Hailed in a few quarters as the saviour of the music industry, a few observers expect 25 to sell 2m copies in its first week on sale in America – a feat only one album has achieved to date, N Sync’s 2000 opus No Strings Attached, which was released before downloading and streaming rocked the music business”, The Guardian noted. The rest of us are just hoping for another great album full of heartfelt songs delivered with a warm, powerful voice that makes us want to sing along, punch the air and shed a tear.
Shortly after the tunes went online, London’s The Guardian reported the new tracks had been taken down by the website that leaked them. Did we really need another that sticks so stringently to Adele‘s formula?
Adele’s album is set for an official release this Friday, which will coincide with her BBC Music special.
Check out “When We Were Young”, penned by Adele and Tobias Jesso Jnr., below.
And while it was initially rumoured on Twitter that 25 CDs were mistakenly released early by the United States retailer Target, a spokesperson for Adele has since rubbished the claim as “not true”.
Rumor has it that Adele’s album might already have leaked.
The fan later posted what appeared to be a tweet from Adele’s record label, XL Recordings, ordering the removal of the “infringing material” and threatening legal action.
The first single and music video from the album, “Hello”, smashed digital sales records and views when they were officially released last month.
“This is my f*ck-you song”, Adele admitted to The Observer.
Even though the album is expected to perform exceptionally well, Adele says she doesn’t think it will be her top-performing album. So far, the album has produced the single “Hello”, which has topped the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and United Kingdom Singles charts. Weirdly (or, perhaps not so weirdly), the Juno Records page for the album is now blank. Do you love Adele’s new album?
