Adele tops music categories in Google’s Year in Search 2015
Under global searches, the most trending search was for Lamar Odom; the most trending search under global news was Charlie Hebdo, Copa America drew the most attention under sporting events and the iPhone 6S was the most trending search under consumer tech.
The three public figures people were most curious about (at least on Google) were Odom, wrestler Ronda Rousey, and Caitlyn Jenner, who announced her gender transition on ABC News’ “20/20” in April.
And the takeaway from 2015?
“Some of the defining topics and traditions of British life, such as the General Election results, the Grand National and Jeremy Clarkson, have generated a surge in Google searches and will be remembered as events that have characterised the year”.
The year had no shortage of bad news, be it the terrorist attacks on Paris, ongoing refugee crisis, the devastating quake in Nepal, or the economic crisis in Greece that shook the European Union to its core, reports Mashable. As for Jenner, her acceptance speech at the Espys plays over Google’s highlight video.
The top search of the year was Lamar Odom.
