Adele wins trio of prizes at Brit Awards
Adele’s “25” album missed out on a Grammy nomination because its November release date made it ineligible for this year’s awards, so the BRITs gave the British songstress her first major award show recognition for her third studio album, which became the best-selling album of 2015.
This is the fifth time Björk is awarded a Brit Award, Vísir reports.
British star Adele led the charge at the BRIT Awards in London, with four wins including best British female artist, best single for her record-breaking hit “Hello”, and best album for “25”, a smash hit on both sides of the Atlantic.
Adele also sent a message of public support to Tik Tok singer Kesha, who is fighting to get out of a contract with record producer Dr. Luke, who she says sexually assaulted her.
Starting her speech, she said: “I cant work out if I’m crying cause of that video, or because of Tim Peake”.
Adele cried as she accepted the award for Global Success. “I’m so lucky to have you love me the way you do, and to support me…”

She will also perform, as will Rihanna, Justin Bieber and Little Mix – who have brought their mums to the ceremony.
Her music has been enjoyed by people from all over the world.
Award hosts Ant and Dec were taken by surprise when a model wearing a mostly see-through all-in-one outfit came and stood between them as they announced singer Jess Glynne’s performance.
“You’ll all be f**king bored of me…”
“To come back after so long away and be so warmly received means so much”, Adele said.
Meanwhile, other winners on the night included James Bay, Tame Impala, Justin Bieber, Coldplay and Bjork.
Coldplay were named best British group for a fourth time and dedicated their trophy to all of the musicians in refugee camps around the world.

Winning a Brit Award should be the pinnacle of an artist’s career, but the sometimes farcical nominations have devalued it so much that it now has about as much prestige as a Kinder Egg toy.
