Adidas Offers James Harden $200M Contract
Injury problems have limited Rose’s market value, so it’s understandable that Adidas is looking to make another big splash in the National Basketball Association with Harden.
The offer is for 13 years and Nike has until the end of next week to decide if they will match.
According to Darren Rovell of ESPN, Adidas has extended an offer to Harden that will keep him in their sneakers for the remaining years of his National Basketball Association career.
Adidas just lost the uniform deal with the National Basketball Association after Nike announced a deal to take over being the NBA’s supplier starting in the 2016-17. This past year, Adidas fell to the No. 3 best-selling apparel brand in the United States, after being passed by Under Armour.
James Harden became a very rich man when he signed a 5-year, $78.78 million deal with the Houston Rockets prior to the 2013-14 season and he’s made the Rockets very happy with their investment in him thus far. An offer of $200 million will be tough to top, even for Nike, but they’ll certainly have plenty of motivation to do so after also losing Curry to Under Armour the year prior. Sources say a part of what Adidas is prepared to pay has to do with the potential for the plenty to embrace Harden on a good larger scale if the Rockets could make extra of a splash within the playoffs within the coming years.
It is reportedly not a foregone conclusion that Nike will let Harden go to Adidas as they are reportedly on edge since letting Curry walk last season and missing out on up and coming golfer Jordan Spieth.
James Harden has been a Nike guy.
“From April through June, Harden had the seventh-best selling jersey in the National Basketball Association, finishing ahead of the likes of Blake Griffin, Chris Paul, Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook“, Rovell reports.
