Adopt me: Help Clear the Shelters this weekend
The Naples shelter will be open for adoptions from 11 a.m.to 6 p.m. on Saturday, located at 7610 Davis Boulevard.
We hope the Richardson shelter and Dallas area shelters will have many empty cages.
Clear the Shelters Day and other community collaboration on behalf of homeless pets makes us stronger than any of us can be alone in helping animals find forever homes. All adoptions at the Liberty Humane Society must be approved.
To see if your local animal shelter is taking part in the adoption event, hop on over to the official website or check your local listings. Potential adopters are encouraged to submit an application in advance, although this isn’t required in order to adopt that day.
View WHS adoptable animals here: www.washhumane.org/adopt and meet them in person this Saturday! The two local shelters are among 24 on Long Island and in New York City participating.
Blue first came into the Shelter on May 1. A shuttle will transport people between the lot and the animal shelter. And Titan, a 4-year-old German Shepherd/Chow Chow mix, was found running along Route 48 emaciated and bald.
Whit Johnson, TV anchor for Today in LA, poses for promotional segments for #ClearTheShelters on Saturday, August 15, where pet adoption fees are just $20.
Wood said the shelter staff works to match pets to the lifestyles of those adopting them, so someone who lives a laid-back lifestyle doesn’t go home with a “65-mile-an-hour” pet.
“We are really excited for the traffic and event and for the push NBC has done”, she said.
“They’re smart”, Wood said. “Families are spending more time together because children are out of school, so it’s a wonderful time to get to know a pet. Then the animal has time to assimilate to the rhythms of the home when everyone is there at the same time”.
