Adrian Hails West Ham’s flawless Start to the Season Following Arsenal Win
Wenger, whose side finished third last season, has been under pressure to add players to his squad, with keeper Petr Cech’s £10m signing from Chelsea the only summer arrival at the Emirates.
But the 33-year-old was guilty of conceding two soft goals as West Ham recorded a shock result of the opening weekend – with Cheikhou Kouyate and Mauro Zarate both beating Cech with efforts the Czech Republic global would have been disappointed to concede. “He is a great goalkeeper and I’m sure he will show his best in the next game“.
“I have been aware of him from being in and around the Arsenal setup for a few years and he has also has experience of the Championship from loan spells with Sheffield Wednesday and Rotherham. We have a tricky start“.
He wrote: ” First game like this was not in the script – Mistake and no points but tomorrow is another day to get ready for the next game! I can’t see many individual convincing performances today so it’s hard to single one out.
Speaking in an interview with Sky Sports, Mourinho said: “I don’t want to make a story of it. If you walk in the street you are not obliged to say hello or shake your hand with anyone”.
The Gunners failed to find the target in their opening Premier League game of the season against West Ham – with Olivier Giroud leading the line. The manager asked me to sit and talk to everyone to help get them into position, not to let Arsenal catch us out on the break, to keep it simple and not try to do too much.
However, Cech – relegated to second choice at Chelsea throughout last season – looked ill-at-ease as West Ham put the hosts to the sword.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is not planning a knee-jerk reaction to such a disappointing start to the Premier League campaign: “I would like to think that we are responsible to buy the players and the coaches, not the media”.
After West Ham there is renewed desire for Wenger to spend big but he will know if there is a player who can improve his team.
“I don’t think we were too confident”.
