Adrian Peterson active, Stefon Diggs starting for Vikings in Detroit
Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson is battling an illness that could prevent him from suiting up for Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions.
Adrian Peterson was a surprise late addition to the injury report this week, and you won’t believe the reason why. Quarterback Teddy Bridgewater threw for 249 yards and one touchdown in 17 of 31 passes. His wife had given birth to their son just hours earlier.
This sudden news marks Peterson’s first reported illness since 2012, when he missed the team’s final two practices before a Week 10 matchup with the Detroit Lions. Minnesota Vikings rank at 27 for 194.5 road passing yards where as Detroit Lions rank at 23 for allowing 274.7 passing yards at home.
Luckily for Peterson, he was able to recover and make the start for the Vikings on Sunday, avoiding any further embarrassment.
And after being inactive for the first three games, fifth-round wide receiver Stefon Diggs followed up his six-catch, 87-yards debut with seven receptions for 129 yards to help the Vikings get back to over.
Green Bay (6-0) is enjoying their off week while the Bears (2-4) have plenty of soul searching to do as they look to turn things around starting with a Week 8 home meeting with the Vikings.
The Vikings have the right defensive formula to limit the Lions as they did in Week 2, holding Detroit to just 323 yards. Yep, it’s possible. November could see the Vikings riding a five-game winning streak as Thanksgiving approaches. However, he said after the game the injury is nothing serious. Here’s something that should be no surprise: He’ll play on Sunday. That was his biggest game of the year in terms of yardage. The Chiefs only converted 3 of 12 third downs, were scoreless on two red-zone possessions and the Vikings forced and recovered a key fumble in their own territory with less than five minutes remaining. “That’s why they play in this league, because they aren’t typical and you have to be a little bit different in order to function”.
