Adrian Peterson calls out Vikings coaches, players after loss to Packers
Zimmer printed up black shirts that read “Beat Green Bay” on the back to try to keep his team focused amid all the positive attention, but what he saw on Sunday was a sloppy, undisciplined performance in all phases.
In their biggest test of the season, the Vikings looked nowhere near ready for prime time, collapsing under a hail of yellow penalty flags and Aaron Rodgers bullets.
It was somewhat business as usual for the Green Bay Packers as they headed to Minnesota to face the red-hot Vikings.
You never know what defense is going to show up for the -9 favored Green Bay. They had the 26th ranked defense coming into the game.
Vikings running back Adrian Peterson was not a happy camper after the Vikings’ five-game winning streak was snapped in a loss to Green Bay. A week of stinging criticism from outside the organization and a fair amount of soul-searching from within produced a team-wide attitude adjustment the Packers needed to wrest control of the division back from the Vikings (7-3).
“As an offense and line we just weren’t able to pick [the blitz] up the best we could”, right guard Mike Harris said after the game.
Boy, did it ever.
The Packers defense also got those sacks.
Although offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur downplayed the significance, Bradford was optimistic he could play Thursday – only 10 days after he separated his left shoulder and suffered a concussion.
“I’ve been a Vikings fan since day one”, Paul Iverson of Eau Claire says. My (position) coach (Sam Gash) said I was moving good, I was looking good.
As for the game itself, Packers.com indicates Thursday will mark game No. 192 in the NFL’s oldest rivalry.
Most players filed past the table, dispersing quickly, away from reality of what had taken place at TCF Bank Stadium, and into another frigid November night.
Randall Cobb, Bryan Bulaga and Micah Hyde were likely the three most talked about Packers in Saturday’s third preseason game.
The Packers emerged victorious, and beat the Vikings 30-13. “Everybody contributed and we got back to playing the style of football that we like to play”. The Green Bay Packers quarterback added, “We’ve been taking it on the chin, rightfully so, the last three weeks after a couple real poor performances”. This was an important week for us, we stuck together. “A big team win for us”. Before the match against the Minnesota Vikings, the running back disclosed that he has been making progress regarding improving his execution of plays in the field.
Unintended outcome: After Everson Griffen’s sack of Aaron Rodgers on a second-down play pinned the Packers at their own 15-yard line Zimmer thought that the Vikings could squeeze in another possession and perhaps tie the game at nine or take the lead with a touchdown.
Receiver James Jones had six catches for 109 yards and a touchdown, busting from his slump.
Quarterback Jay Cutler had two turnovers in the second half, though neither led to points for Denver.
Had Crosby missed any of those field-goal attempts, it would’ve drastically changed field positioning.
“We made plays”, he said.
“When we’re balanced like that, I think we play our best”. “We left a ton on the field today”. McCarthy’s message to the team reflected that.
He didn’t want to comment on his health after the game, but in response to his ability to return he said “I was out there, that’s about it”.
