Adrien Broner’s undercard includes former Olympian Raynell Williams of Cleveland
(Photo credit: Stephanie Trapp/SHOWTIME) By Allan Fox: 26-year-old #2 WBC Adrien Broner (30-2, 22 KOs) is now the favorite to defeat former WBA 140lb champion Khabib Allakhverdiev (19-1, 9 KOs) to capture the vacant WBA World light welterweight title tonight, according to Fight News.
A far from dejected Broner scoffed when asked about the loss, and instead replied with a typical Broner-esque retort: “At the end of the day, everybody in here will still take my photograph and get an autograph”. To me its another fight and I take every fight seriously. “I am looking forward to a world championship-winning performance and I know that if he tries to do something to get in my head, to approach me or to push me – that I will be as restrained as possible and save my anger for fight night”.
“I am not anxious about fighting in Broner’s hometown”, said Allakhverdiev during a recent media workout.
In the co-feature, undefeated IBF Junior Lightweight World Champion Jose Pedraza (20-0, 12 KOs) will defend his IBF World super featherweight title against veteran Edner Cherry (34-6-2, 19 KOs). Not only do we have Lucas “The Machine” Matthysse on HBO, Adrien Broner is in a somewhat competitive fight on Showtime.
For a few, this weekend’s bout will be the last chance for The Problem, who is returning to Nevada on the back of a unanimous-decision defeat to Shawn Porter that just wasn’t in his script. I’ve accomplished a lot at a young age but I have so much more to do. “So with that being said, I want to thank everybody for coming and I will be victorious Saturday night on October 3”. Its going to be a great step up and people are going to see a lot more than theyve seen from me in the past. He just was the bigger guy, but I was in the ring with one of the best fighters in the world and I really learned from that fight.
The schedule is late, but let me make it up to you with this picture Sylvester Stallone painted of what he thought Rocky would look like “in an emotional sense”.
Fortunately for Allakverdiev, Broner has shown a horrendously lackadaisical work rate in his biggest fights.
So, AB is now All Business? That’s roughly 17 fighters at 140 that you can say that are better fighters than Allakhverdiev.
“He always trains hard, and now he’s going to the weight class where he’s supposed to be”, Stafford said. I identify with a guy trying to forge an identity, and playing the fool, and thinking things will come a bit easier than they do. Since then, he has been training and perfecting his craft since that loss to come back and fight for the title again. He is mean and lean.
We will without a shadow of a doubt be taking live calls on air from you the voice of the people. He is 26-years-old. His finesse speed and power is unlike any I have seen in a long time.
Both fighters bring a physical style that should result in good, but most importantly, competitive action. He’s a good fighter but his problem is that he thinks he’s better than he is.
Khabib first won the WBA World light welterweight title by technical decision over then unbeaten Joan Guzman in a very physical fight that took place in Sunrise, Florida, in 2012.
