AERIAL VIDEO: 2-Alarm Fire Breaks Out at Mass. Marina
A fire at a Quincy marina Thursday morning sunk several boats and caused massive damage to others. No injuries were reported.
“This was a particularly hard fire to fight because there was only one pier leading down to the boats, and firefighters needed to get a line from the land down to the end of the dock because the boats on fire were at the very end”, the Quincy police spokesman said.
Tamara Silivia and Justin Lowery lost the 26- foot “Four Winds” that they lived on. She grabbed an American flag from her boat that looked like it was about to catch fire in the intense heat and made sure her husband was up.
A few neighbors also stayed on the dock and hosed down boats to keep them from catching fire. The Quincy police marine unit towed away other vessels at the marina before the fire could spread any further.
We’ll have more information as it becomes available.
The fire department was still on scene dousing hot spots just before 9 a.m., Sullivan said.
