Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry hospitalized after collapsing at Coney Island concert
Joe Perry collapsed backstage during Hollywood Vampires’ performance in Coney Island, New York Sunday night, with the guitarist requiring transportation to a nearby Brooklyn hospital.
Rock legend Joe Perry collapsed during a concert playing with the Hollywood Vampires on Sunday night. Minutes after the guitarist left the performance, backstage personnel was seen carrying Perry. The Rock legend sat in the speaker in the middle of their performance, made a decision to go backstage and collapsed.
In subsequent interviews, Joe Perry has made it clear that he is skeptical about Aersomith closing up shop. “He is stable right now, with family and is under the best care.’ A statement was also issued on the band’s official page with a similar sentiment”. Rumors soon swirled the 65-year-old rocker suffered from a heart attack. Watch the concert video here where Joe Perry collapsed.
After the show, Cooper tweeted that Perry was in stable condition.
“He is stable right now, with family and is under the best care”, it said. “FDNY and NYPD carried him off quickly”, she added, referring to the New York City fire and police departments. He then led the crowd through a chant of “Get well, Joe”, and would send out a message on Twitter following the show.
The Hollywood Vampires formed back in February a year ago after Joe played guitar with Johnny on a number of recordings for The Manhattan Blues Project in 2013.
The band’s name refers to a ’70s drinking club Cooper was part of that also included John Lennon, The Who’s Keith Moon, Harry Nilsson, Bernie Taupin and Micky Dolenz of the Monkees.
