Aerosmith issues cease and desist letter against Donald Trump
However, over the weekend, attorneys for the Aerosmith front man sent a cease and desist letter to Trump’s campaign for the usage of the band’s hit song, Dream On at campaign events for The Donald.
Now, the lawyers of Aerosmith frontman are serious, saying that “if Trump for President does not comply with our demands, our client will be forced to pursue any and all legal or equitable remedies which our client may have against you”.
This is not the first time in recent months that the real estate magnate’s received a cease-and-decist letter over the use of a rock song at his campaign events.
So, the current lawsuit is not personal or political, one of Tyler’s lawyers said: it’s just about copyright and legal permission to use the song.
Representatives for Mr Trump, who is the Republican frontrunner, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
However, in case if Tyler insists on letting Trump “dream on”, here are a few other songs that he can use for his campaign, perhaps.
According to TMZ, Tyler’s gripe isn’t with Trump or his politics, but with the fact that he doesn’t want to see the song “politicized” in any way.
After Young’s complaint, Trump’s campaign said it had secured a public performance license from Ascap. “Do not use our music or my voice for your moronic charade of a campaign”.
