AFCH ranked among top 50 hospitals for children
For 10 years running, NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital ranks in more pediatric specialties than any other NY metro area hospital in U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Children’s Hospitals”. The Mayo Clinic Children’s Center ranked among the top 50 in 8 out of 10 pediatric specialties.
Boston Children’s was ranked second in the two categories of pediatric diabetes and endocrinology and pulmonology. St. Louis Children’s Hospital is affiliated with Washington University School of Medicine, one of the leading medical research, teaching and patient care institutions in the nation.
“We know how desperate parents are for information when their child is in the middle of a major medical crisis and decisions have to be made fast”, said Avery Comarow, health rankings editor at U.S News & World Report.
Children’s comprehensive pulmonology program includes the diagnosis, treatment and management of pulmonary disorders such as cystic fibrosis, asthma, bronchitis, pneumonia, croup and other conditions. The rankings will be published in the print edition of U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Hospitals” issue, which will be on newsstands in August. “Together, we’re changing the way health care is delivered”.
Notably, the Hospital ranks in the top 10 in the nation in diabetes and endocrinology as well as neonatology. “Knowing that their child is going to get great care should give families great comfort that they’ve come to the right place”. The specialists in the hospital’s national and global programs cover an entire range of specialties.
Data used to determine the U.S. News rankings included clinical data from 183 pediatric centers and the opinions of approximately 11,000 surveyed pediatric specialists and subspecialists, according to a press release from the publication.
They are medical centers that serve some of the youngest and most fragile of patients, ranging from tiny premature babies to teens suffering from debilitating diseases.
U.S. News introduced the Best Children’s Hospitals rankings in 2007 to help families of sick children find the best medical care available.
Dawes agreed. “It’s a tribute to the Stanford Medicine expertise and training”, said Dawes, noting that the U.S. News annual rankings are a source of pride across the organization.
St. Louis Children’s Hospital is the teaching hospital for Washington University School of Medicine, and numerous medical innovations that attract families to the hospital arise from that academic partnership. The $754 million hospital features a 1.1 million square foot, 348-bed facility that is home to C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital, the Von Voigtlander Women’s Hospital, and adult and pediatric blood and marrow transplant programs.
