Afro Samurai 2 Removed From Sale, Refunds Issued
Just yesterday I was writing about the worst games of the year.
It’s hard to imagine how can you go wrong with a property like Afro Samurai since that would make an awesome game.
Afro Samurai 2 is riddled with bugs, according to many reviews, and it’s sitting on a Metacritic score of just 21.
In our review, we gave it a 2/10 and said, “Afro Samurai 2: Revenge of Kuma Volume 1 is an unpleasant, deeply depressing experience throughout its short running time”.
“The game was a failure”, he explained. Sometimes it works, but in cases like Afro Samurai 2 and Batman on PC, it didn’t. Good luck trying to find the game on the PlayStation Network or Steam, but at least those people who did play the game are getting a refund. Refunds are also now being offered.
Steve Escalante, the general manager of video game development company Versus Evil, told the CGMagazine website at the Montreal global Gaming Summit this week that it has pulled its Afro Samurai 2: The Revenge of Kuma game from retailers, and that the company is refunding all purchasers.
Developer Versus Evil has announced that the title has been pulled from sale.
“It’s been a long process to figure it out because Sony has never really had to do this in this way”, said Escalante, “but we’re returning all the money”. So across the board we’re putting out an apology saying “sorry about this”.
Escalante added that pulling the game down and refunding consumers was the best course of action from a consumer perspective. True, Versus Evil may have made a awful game, but no one wants to see a studio get shut down.
