After being carted off vs. Panthers, Jason Peters: ‘I’m good’

I don’t care what plans Chip Kelly had for this roster heading into next season – he absolutely must fix this offensive line next year. There is a lot to discuss, so let’s get right to it.

At this point I’m becoming surprised when the Eagles make a clean catch. Week after week the Eagles fail to execute such a fundamental aspect of the sport.

Where to begin? Do we start with the countless Jordan Matthews slant route attempts or the screen/swing passes that dominated the attempts category but never produced substantial yards. While there is no official word on the injury yet, the replay was disturbing. It’s Zach Ertz. It’s Darren Sproles. In the receiving end, Riley Cooper had 76 yards and one touchdown while Miles Austin added 60 yards in three catches. Murray told the media that he feels like his old self again and likes having the weight on his shoulders, but everyone on the offense needs to do a better job at stepping up. It was the sixth time in seven games that the Eagles found themselves trailing in the opening quarter. “Defensively, we’ve been playing great all year, and I think it’s time offensively for us to match their play”.

The Eagles deserve a lot of criticism, for sure, but the Panthers also deserve credit. Five teams at 6-0 is a new National Football League record.

On this night, the Eagles committed so many of them, beginning with eight dropped passes, that it was easy to see the result.

The Eagles’ record on the road is poor at 1-2, but the losses are a 2-point defeat to Atlanta and a 3-point loss to the Redskins.

Talk about a sophomore slump. While many fans and analysts were quick to blame Bradford’s former team as the reason for his failures, it appears the Bradford in Philadelphia is the same average quarterback that was on the Rams. Kelce can’t afford any more miscues and holding penalties, and Matthews can’t afford to drop any more passes like he just did.

Last year, losses to Arizona and Green Bay foreshadowed the Eagles’ late-season collapse.

After defeating the New York Giants by a score of 27-7 last Sunday night, many fans and analysts felt as though the victory came in spite of Bradford.

“We’ve got incredible backs, and Coach (Mike) Shula is an incredible play caller”, center Ryan Kalil said.

Quarterback Sam Bradford leads the Eagles offense and has struggled to stay consistent this season.

After the Eagles’ first points of the game came on a long field goal, the Panthers got the Eagles to bite hard on a reverse play. There was a lack of aggression and confidence on and off the field and it cost the Eagles in both momentum and success.

Malcolm Jenkins had another good game and made a big-time interception toward the end of the first half. “So, we’ve really got to clean that up on the offensive side of the ball”. What was especially concerning about a few of the flags is that they were repeat mistakes. Lane Johnson had two false starts not too far apart. Bennie Logan somehow managed to commit encroachment on two consecutive plays. However, he was also alarmingly sacked five times as his team failed to give him adequate protection.

The Eagles are a flawed team, and rest alone is not going to fix that. But it certainly can’t hurt.
