After Candidates Push Back, GOP Debate to Be Two Hours Long
Fox News’ Megyn Kelly lobbed a few tough questions at Mr. Trump during the August GOP presidential debate, pushing him on a few of his past statments about women.
The two political outsiders wrote in a joint letter to CNBC on Thursday that they will not appear at the October. 28 debate unless its length is capped at two hours, including commercials.
That’s because the ratings for the first two Republican debates were massive and unprecedented – they averaged 24 million and 23 million viewers each.
“If you’re really going to be talking about the lives, let’s talk about the abortions, the number one cause of death in the black community”, he said.
At the Republican banquet in San Mateo, Southern California Congressman Darrell Issa addressed a crowd that reflects the split opinions.
“Now, if our nominee happened to be someone like Marco Rubio or Jeb Bush, who have strong Hispanic roots themselves and connections themselves, that might not be as big an issue”.
Of the other candidates, only Ted Cruz and Carly Fiorina have shown the guts to push back against the media.
“I wouldn’t be the person I am today, I wouldn’t be a high-level executive within his organization if he felt that way”, the wife of Jared Kushner said.
Many are still undecided. It started at two hours but then rose to three – a change in plans that Trump said was aimed at generating more advertising revenue for the network.
