After CMAs performance with Justin Timberlake, Chris Stapleton’s album tops
Bolstered by Stapleton’s career-making showcase at the November 4 CMA Awards, “Traveller” sold 153.4K United States copies during the October 30-November 5 tracking week.
As if the past six days or so couldn’t possibly get any better for MERCURY NASHVILLE’s CHRIS STAPLETON, now sales for his CMA Album Of The Year victor, “Traveller” have skyrocketed since WEDNESDAY’s (11/4) CMA AWARDS.
According to Hits Daily Double, “Traveller” is tracking for a weekly U.S. sales total in the 85-90,000 range.
Remarkably, Stapleton’s album sold more in this past week than it had in total since its release in May. The major rise in sales for Traveller – a startling 6109 percent – comes thanks to Stapleton’s big time in the spotlight, where he was exposed to an audience that had previously never heard of him but was moved by what they say.
“It’s unbelievable”, he reflects of his CMA Awards successes. The top three records in the US go to country music. Eric Church’s surprise album Mr. Misunderstood, which was released during the CMA Awards telecast, sold 76,000 units. The abbreviated sales week and lack of promotion hurt Church, as his 2014 LP The Outsiders debuted at Number One with 288,000 copies sold. 56 compilation album is at number four, and The Weeknd’s Beauty Behind the Madness drops to five. The singer performed with the night’s big victor Chris Stapleton in a two song duet. After spending 53 weeks in the Top 10, the album is at No. 11 this week with around 30,000 units.
Also worth noting – Taylor Swift’s 1989 finally fell out of the Top 10.
