After Facebook posts calling for journalist’s rape, New Jersey politician quits race
Raped. By. A. Syrian.
The Facebook account of Mike Krawitz, a republican candidate for Township Committee in West Deptford, NJ, posted a series of threatening comments targeting Daily Beast reporter Olivia Nuzzi.
The story mainly highlights Trump’s second-ex wife and former mistress, Maples, and briefly discusses her time with the presidential candidate and her hopes to be seen in her own light.
Krawitz did not respond to Politico’s request for comment.
“Hope. You. Get. Raped. By”.
‘Through our investigation we have learned, that this is not the first time Mr. Krawitz has had an inappropriate confrontation via Facebook with this reporter and that he has a history going back to December of 2015 of making comments to posts made by her. But Nuzzi tells Action News, Krawitz has been trolling her since 2014.
Krawitz had gotten on to the Republican ballot via write-in after no Republican candidates ran in the primary. He tells The Philadelphia Inquirer (http://bit.ly/2bQj8dI ) that he was hacked and that he didn’t make the comment Monday on journalist Olivia Nuzzi’s Facebook account.
But the Gloucester County Clerk’s office hasn’t received the letter, or confirmed through handwriting comparison that it belongs to the West Deptford Township committee candidate.
A person answering the phone at a number listed for Krawitz on Tuesday afternoon said he was not home. “That said, I believe in freedom of speech and the democratic process, so it’s up to the people of West Deptford and the West Deptford Republican Party to decide if they would like to be represented by a man running on a platform of encouraging the rape of female journalists he stalks online”.
Even if the recent vulgar comments attributed to Krawitz were, as the candidate claimed, from a hacker, Philbin said that previous posts are enough for him to get out.
In a bid to prove that Krawitz was not the victim of a hacker, Ms Nuzzi shared a screenshot of another offensive post associated with his account from August 10 that read: ‘How’s. The. Gun. I have faith that most voters in New Jersey and around the country disapprove of hateful rhetoric of this nature.
But Krawitz appeared to post other comments on Nuzzi’s page the same day calling her an ugly, stupid “c-word”. The township’s party officials confirmed the authenticity of the note, which is signed by Michael Krawitz.
